After the boys took over the station, they made Zander take down the Antigua-Barbuda flag and the United States flag. They are still working on the new flag they are going to post at the gate, but it will probably look very similar to a pirate flag with both of their smiling faces attached! :)
Vonnie and I got to go out for our first Antiguan Date night. As we drove out the gate a little after 6PM, we didn't know what we wanted to do, other than go to a movie around 8PM. So we settled on trying out this little pizza place we had been meaning to try. It was VERY GOOD...and over drinks and pizza we got to talk about our goals for the next year. #1. Spend more time with our loving God in His Word and in Prayer...all of the other little things we talked about would fade away if we were giving God the time he deserves. #2. Enjoy every day we are together and take advantage of the time to grow as a family in the Lord. So these aren't really New Year's resolutions, but definitely things that we have committed to over the next year and the rest of our lives.
On a lighter side of our date night was the movie...we ended up getting "Rock Star" parking downtown St. John's (Which was good, because any longer of a walk through the crowds and Vonnie would have called it off). We waited in a line of about 30 people (2 others were pigment challenged). We paid EC$17 (US $6.34...not a bad price for a first run movie). We then headed in to a pretty modern theater to watch our movie...when the volume came on, we were hoping they would turn it down (more on that later)...1 preview and boom the movie started (Much different than at home...a nice change, but if you planned your schedule like you would in the US, you would miss the first 10-15 mins of the movie). The movie (National Treasure) was great and as with any suspense movie, you have 200 people hollering (WATCH OUT here comes the water...and laughing and clapping uncontrollably when something funny happens...needless to say we were happy they had the volumne up). In the end we really enjoyed watching a movie with 200 of our closest friends...kind of like being at home in your living room with obnoxious family! As we were ushered out the side door (15 feet from the van...SWEET) Vonnie saw a safety concious gentleman riding a motorcycle downtown. It was hilarious...he had a helmet on top of his hair, but it was about 10-inches off of his head to accomodate all of his hair!!BREAK...BREAK
SUBJECT CHANGE...BEACH TIME!
So the first Eli Antigua pictures were of a lump of flesh with a blank look on his face...Vonnie and I were talking about the picture of him on Thanksgiving he was laying there giving you the stern look.
Now 7 weeks later, he is really starting to take on a personality...Vonnie showed that he is rolling, he is trying to sit up in his chair, and really enjoying his Christmas present...(When he can keep his brothers from playing with it). It gives him something to do during his time at the beach!
Vonnie and I were certain that Uncle Trevor was steaming in on his Yacht to visit us. It turns out it was just some other rich people...the harbor is really starting to fill up with a lot of sail boats, and these cool yachts, the boats really made the beach quite a bit busier today.
After the Uncle Trevor scare, we then thought we saw Uncle Derek coming down the beach with either the bun on his head, or with the braids down his back. It turns out that neither of these guys were actually Derek, but I am sure their hair is similar to Derek's.
