RYDER CUP!! ---fine print...we lost

Off we go...we had two teams of 8 people each. 6 Men and 2 Women...in the first group were Steve Hall (CPO in the Royal Navy) competing Phil Stiger (works on base) and team Captains...John Whitlam (LCDR in the Royal Navy) and myself...you can see all of the flags on our carts...John had the Royal Naval Ensign...I have a LARGER US Flag. Steve had the Antiguan Flag, the Union Jack, the Royal Naval Ensign, and the Welsh Flag (He is Welsh!) They let the Americans drive...


Off we go toward the pond...those who know me would think I was in the pond...actually I WAS...John let me off the hook by putting his second ball in the water...it allowed me to go up 3 holes after 11 holes! Not a bad position.
WOW...look at that horrible stance and form...it is amazing how much help I could use on my game...but note the HUGE American Flag...that is what was important!

This was after everyone was complete with their matches and we all went down the 18th fairway to the 100-yd marker to see who could get closest to the pin...of the 16 who played only 3 made the green. The prize was a nice bottle of Appleton's rum...to the winner go the spoils!

This was not the winning stroke...as you can see I have a toilet seat around my neck...more on that later...notice the nice flip-flops as well...wouldn't recommend playing a round that way!!

Notice the BIG CHEESY GRIN...this is because I won something...I was able to beat John 6 up with 4 holes remaining...on the US team, 1 other golfer won their match, and we halved 1 other...this means we lost 2 - 5 - 1. Not a good percentage. The toilet seat on the other hand was a Personal prize I won...I took a 15 on #6. That includes 2 balls out of bounds, and 3 more balls in the pond...WOW, if this wasn't a tournament, I would have picked up 3 lost balls ago. Now we have this to hang in the club for posterity!! Notice how much fun John is having in the background... :) Steve won the best score after handicaps were included...he had the best round I have seen him play in the last 2 months...and that is about of about 13 rounds or so...he was quite the SANDBAGGER!!! :) Or as he would say, BANDIT!
