Flying with the "best airplane driver ever (Drew)!"

A good friend and classmate of mine here at ACSC has gotten to know Vonnie and the boys. He also happens to be an F-15 pilot, and recreational small aircraft pilot.

Back in October he offered to take the boys up in a little plane out here at Montgomery airport. I was immediately excited about the idea, but Vonnie was a little hesitant. She has seen too many reports on FOX News. Fortunately the fact that Drew has had a private pilot license for about 15 years, and has flown over 2,000 hours in an F-15 won out and here were are!

Zach and Seth couldn't keep their hands off the plane, so I tried to tie them up with posing for pictures while Drew made sure the plane was capable of hauling us all safely.

The boys even posed for a picture with the "best airplane driver ever!" The Owner and CEO of Drew recreational Airlines! (Okay, I made that up...but it sounded good!)
Before you can fly, you need to ensure the airplane is safe and worthy to get in the air. Zach was running the checklist and teaching Seth how to make sure Drew accomlished all the pre-flight checks! Good thing Drew is in the military because the boys are quite the task masters.
Here Drew is sampling the gas to make sure there is no water in it. More critical than in a car, because if your engine dies up there you might end up in the Hudson river...but that never happens right!!

Last call for all those flying Drew Airlines 053330 to Prattville and back...if you have your ticket, please board now! The nice thing in a plane this size is that EVERYONE gets a window seat.
They shure look happy to go don't they...maybe they will be Thunderbird pilots in the next 25 years or so!

This is after the flight. Daddy got a little hot, and thus a little bit queasy...the boys loved the sharp turns, the zero Gs Drew gave us, the couple of stalls, the touch and go at Prattville, and landing back at Montgomery while there were 2 F-16s taxiing. (Seth made the mistake of asking Drew if that was the most awesome plane ever! -- Needless to say, Drew explained the F-16 is only half of a plane...1 pilot, 1 engine, "itty-bitty" guns, etc...) All of Vonnie's boys had a ball, and we look forward to giving it another shot before we all graduate here!

Wow what a fun experience. I got to fly in a small plan when I was the boys age too. Don't remember all the details because that was sooo long ago but I know it was fun. NV Grandma

Wow that looks like a great time. It is so glad to see the boys with their Dad. It makes me smile and remember that this time will pass for us as well.
